About this reference
Boiler Look-Up is a written look-up of 59 entries on boilers and central heating in UK homes. It explains what a boiler or radiator is doing, what the maker's user manual lets a homeowner do, and where the work has to go to a registered engineer.
Where the entries come from
Fault code meanings and homeowner steps come from makers' own user manuals and, where a manual says nothing, makers' own web pages, and the entry says which. Rules, grants and figures come from official sources such as HSE, GOV.UK, NHS, Ofgem and legislation.gov.uk. Each entry lists its sources and the date they were read. Older manuals and copies held on another site are labelled as such. A code your model shows may mean something different from a neighbouring model, so your own manual always comes first.
What this site is not
It isn't a heating firm, an installer or a gas engineer, and doesn't work in any particular town. It isn't run by a boiler maker, and makers' names are used only to say whose manual is being described. Nothing here replaces a Gas Safe registered engineer, and nothing here asks anyone to open a boiler casing or touch gas parts, apart from the meter control valve in a gas emergency.
Who runs it
Boiler Look-Up has the same owners as PlumbingSupplyAndMore, SoftPro Water Systems, Quality Water Treatment and Central Plumbing & HVAC, all in the United States. A few entries link to them as US reference points, marked beside each link. They don't sell UK boilers or UK gas parts, and those links aren't suggestions to buy for a UK system.
